Power Engineer

Join a forward-thinking company that invests in your future. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for the critical power sector. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career, offering hands-on fault finding, maintenance, and preparation of specialist equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and modifications on critical power equipment including Loadbanks (AC/DC, Resistive & Reactive), Generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), UPS Systems, Transformers, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and associated cables and connectors.
  • Perform functional testing following repairs and prior to dispatch to ensure all equipment is fully operational and project-ready.
  • Complete service reports, job cards, and test documentation accurately.
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot returned equipment, implementing effective repairs.
  • Work closely with operational teams to prepare and kit equipment for customer projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
  • Manage workshop tools and testing equipment, ensuring calibration and serviceability.
  • Provide technical guidance and remote support to field-based engineers.
  • Assist with spare parts procurement and stock management.
  • Support loading, unloading, and inspection of returned equipment when required.
  • Adhere to all company and statutory Health & Safety procedures, participate in risk assessments, and ensure PPE requirements are met.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Workshop Engineer, or similar within critical power, power generation, or electrical engineering sectors.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills on single and three-phase systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with UPS systems, Loadbanks, Transformers, Power distribution equipment, Generators, and Battery storage systems.
  • Competence in using electrical test equipment, including multimeters, insulation testers, and clamp meters.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent electrical qualification.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent).
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety procedures within a workshop or engineering environment.
