Role

As Mechanical Associate Director, you will lead the delivery of mechanical building services projects from feasibility through to completion across RIBA Stages 1-6. Working closely with senior management, architects, project managers and multidisciplinary design teams, you will be responsible for both technical delivery and commercial performance while mentoring and developing junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leading mechanical design projects from concept through construction.


• Managing project delivery, quality, programme and commercial performance.


• Acting as the primary client contact throughout project lifecycles.


• Producing and reviewing calculations, reports, specifications and technical documentation.


• Overseeing mechanical design production using BIM and CAD workflows.


• Undertaking site inspections, commissioning reviews and technical assessments.


• Supporting sustainability strategies and renewable energy feasibility studies.


• Mentoring and developing engineers within the team.


• Assisting with business development, fee proposals and identifying new opportunities.


• Supporting recruitment and continued growth of the engineering team.

Requirements

You’ll be an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer with strong technical capability and leadership experience.

• c10+ years’ experience in Mechanical Building Services Design.


• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.


• Membership of CIBSE, IMechE or working towards Chartered status.


• Experience delivering commercial refurbishment, fit‑out and mixed‑use developments.


• Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and CDM.


• Experience with software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES VE, Hevacomp, H2X or similar.


• Excellent report writing and client communication skills.


• Commercial awareness with an interest in developing client relationships.


• A proactive leadership style with a passion for mentoring others.
