70000 - 80000 per annum + plus benefitsHatfield, HertfordshirePERMANENTDesign ManagerLocation: Hatfield & Project SitesSector: Refurbishment, Fire Remediation & Re-CladdingIndustry: Building and ConstructionSalary: 70,000 - 80,000 per annumOverviewDue to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Design Manager with a strong main contractor background and proven experience delivering refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to completion.This role requires someone capable of taking the lead from day one, managing multiple projects, overcoming technical challenges, and building strong relationships with clients, consultants and project teams.The RoleThe Design Manager will take full responsibility for coordinating and managing the design process across multiple refurbishment and remediation projects, ensuring design information is delivered on programme, within budget and fully compliant with statutory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical ManagementLead consultant and surveyor procurementUndertake design risk appraisals and support tender submissionsReview Employer's Requirements and contribute to Contractor's ProposalsDevelop and manage design and pre-construction programmesCoordinate and manage consultant teams throughout project deliveryMonitor design progress and report against programme milestonesChair design team meetings and drive key deliverablesReview design information for compliance, buildability and value engineering opportunitiesManage design development and change control proceduresResolve technical and design-related issues throughout the project lifecycleProject Delivery & Stakeholder ManagementSupport single and two-stage tender processesLead design reviewsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholdersLiaise with statutory authorities and approval bodiesEnsure project objectives are achieved throughout deliveryCompliance & Building SafetyEnsure compliance with Building Regulations, Planning Conditions and warranty requirementsWork alongside the Principal Designer to meet Building Safety Act obligationsManage approvals, licences and statutory permissionsEnsure all design information complies with health, safety and environmental requirementsSupport projects involving Higher Risk Buildings, remediation and façade replacement worksRequirementsProven Design Manager experience within a Main Contractor environmentExperience managing multiple refurb projects from start to finishExperience leading major refurbishment schemesAbility to deal with project challenges and technical issues confidentlySignificant contractor-side and commercial experienceUnderstanding of construction methods, sequencing and buildabilityExperience using construction planning softwareExperience using Common Data Environments (CDEs)
