For at least the first 12 months, you will be the primary Learning Designer, giving you the chance to have a significant impact on how learning solutions are created, prioritised and delivered across the business. Working collaboratively with stakeholders and leveraging your creativity and instructional design expertise, you will play a key role in developing impactful learning content that enhances the skills and knowledge of our colleagues. At Sainsbury's, we value innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, offering a supportive environment where you can make a real difference and contribute to creating exceptional learning experiences for our workforce.Hybrid role working between home and London, Coventry or ManchesterWhat you'll doAs a Learning Designer at Argos, you will be responsible for designing and producing exceptional blended learning solutions that promote continuous performance support and ongoing learning through a 70/20/10 approach. Operating within a lean team structure, you will take ownership of the full learning design lifecycle, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will collaborate with learning architects and stakeholders to translate learning architecture into engaging learning experiences, applying instructional design methodologies and creative learning techniques to develop pedagogically sound content for digital and face-to-face learning solutions.Using tools such as Articulate Rise, Elucidat, Evolve and Storyline, you will create inclusive and accessible learning experiences while independently managing multiple projects and priorities. You will be comfortable working with ambiguity, proactively identifying opportunities, influencing stakeholders and driving learning solutions forward with minimal supervision. Through user-centric design principles, stakeholder engagement and continuous feedback loops, you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering innovative learning experiences for colleagues across the organisation.Who you areAs a Learning Designer at Argos, you are a creative and experienced Learning & Development professional who thrives in a fast-paced, lean environment. You are equally comfortable developing learning strategy, engaging stakeholders and creating high-quality learning solutions from concept through to delivery. You enjoy taking ownership, working independently and making informed decisions while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the business. With a strong foundation in instructional design methodologies and a focus on user-centred design principles, you excel in creating engaging and effective digital and face-to-face learning content. You are highly organised, self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results with limited day-to-day support. Your ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and continuously improve learning experiences enables you to drive positive outcomes for learners and the organisation.Essential CriteriaDemonstrable experience designing and developing blended learning solutions, including digital, face‑to‑face, and virtual formats, covering tasks such as user research, storyboarding, content creation, and testing.Demonstrable experience working autonomously within a lean team environment, successfully managing multiple learning design projects and stakeholders, prioritising workload effectively, and delivering high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.Proven ability to apply human‑centred design practices, including conducting user research, leading ideation sessions, gathering feedback, and validating learning needs through prototypes or testing sessions.Demonstrated capability to create digital learning content using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Elucidat, or Evolve, with an understanding of SCORM/xAPI requirements.Evidence of designing accessible and inclusive learning solutions, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards across all learning formats.Ability to manage end‑to‑end design processes, including version control, storage, stakeholder communication, and delivering assets within agreed timescales. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible, as this vacancy may close early if we receive a high volume of interest. We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new — whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to save 10% on your shopping online and instore at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat, and we regularly increase the discount to 15% at points during the year. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 10% of salary, depending on how we perform.Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance and you can buy up to an additional week's holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave. Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply). At Argos, we’re a digital‑led British retailer moving at pace – reshaping how customers shop and how work gets done. Our People team sits at the heart of that transformation.

The Argos People function is a commercially‑minded, high‑impact team partnering leaders to deliver growth, build capability and create a high‑performance culture. We work on the things that matter most – from organisation design and talent to culture, reward and transformation – balancing pace with care, and outcomes with colleague experience.

We’re looking for People professionals who want to help shape the future of Argos, and who are comfortable working with ambiguity in a constantly changing landscape. This is an environment where priorities shift, problems aren’t always fully defined, and impact comes from judgement, influence and action – not just process.

This is a place where you’ll have real accountability, a clear voice, and the opportunity to influence how a major retail business evolves.

If you thrive in complexity, enjoy solving real business problems and want to play an active role in building what comes next, Argos People is the place to build your career.Full timePosting Date: 2026-09-10
