Senior Software Engineer (Python) - Edge & Autonomous Systems Platform

Location - Aylesbury (Hybrid)

We're working with a fast-growing technology company developing advanced autonomous systems for demanding, real-world environments.

As they scale their core platform, they're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who wants genuine technical ownership - taking capability from architecture and design through to production, deployment and support.

This isn't a narrow application-development role. You'll work across software, edge infrastructure, networking and system integrations, helping build a robust, scalable platform that sits at the heart of their technology.

What you'll be doing:

• Owning core platform capability and driving it towards production-grade reliability, scalability and maintainability
• Working across software, edge infrastructure and integrations
• Introducing and strengthening modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, peer review and observability
• Diagnosing complex issues across software, Linux, networking and infrastructure boundaries
• Mentoring other engineers and helping shape technical direction as the team grows

What we're looking for:

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering and operating production systems
• Full-cycle ownership - design, build, test, release and support
• Strong experience with Python, Linux, containers, APIs and distributed/networked systems
• Comfortable working across software and wider technical/system boundaries
• Able to communicate technical decisions effectively with hardware, integration and operational teams
• Experience with edge compute, device/fleet management, autonomous systems, sensing platforms or robotics would be particularly valuable.
