Job Description

Desktop Support Engineer position (Contract - Paternity Cover) required by a leading Financial Services firm based in London and paying 265 per day. You will be part of the London IT Department, providing essential face-to-face deskside cover for a key member of staff on paternity leave. You will be responsible for day-to-day BAU support, workstation ergonomics, meeting room technology, and delivering an exceptional onboarding experience for new starters.

The client is a prestigious organisation within the financial sector known for delivering high-touch support across their office-based teams. We are looking for a customer-focused, proactive individual with strong hands-on technical troubleshooting skills, experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms, and a proven track record of working within financial services environment(s).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, face-to-face deskside support to office-based users in London

  • Resolve hardware and peripheral issues (monitors, docking stations, headsets, webcams, and printers)

  • Adjust monitor arms, workstation heights, and assist with desk ergonomics

  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve the performance of slow laptops and desktop devices

  • Install, configure, and update software applications and user profile preferences

  • Support and troubleshoot Microsoft Teams Rooms, including AV equipment and live meeting support

  • Assist new starters on Day 1, ensuring fully functional workstations and seamless tech setup

  • Escalate complex, non-deskside issues efficiently to appropriate escalation teams

Experience

  • Previous 1st Line / Deskside support experience preferably within the Financial Sector (please confirm prior financial organisations on application)

  • Strong hands-on hardware and peripheral troubleshooting skills

  • Practical experience configuring Windows display settings, software updates, and profile setups

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms and office AV / meeting room setups

  • Excellent communication and face-to-face user support skills

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-resolution abilities under fast-paced office environments
