The Waste Engineer will work closely with the Workstream Lead and Project Manager to support the waste management of projects identified by programme and in some instances to extend waste guidance post project close out.

This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on programme delivery within a fast-paced and challenging environment. operational challenges and interfaces within nuclear facilities.

• Thorough understanding of nuclear site waste management arrangements,

• Experience supporting project delivery through concept, design, implementation, and commissioning phases.

• Ability to challenge established approaches and identify pragmatic,

innovative waste solutions while maintaining compliance with safety,

environmental, and regulatory requirements.

• Strong understanding of waste hierarchy principles and opportunities for

waste minimisation, segregation, characterisation, treatment, and

disposal.

• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and engaging

effectively with operations, engineering, waste management, and project

stakeholders.

• Ability to provide informed advice, drawing on site and plant experience to

influence project decisions and optimise waste outcomes.

• Strong communication and technical authoring skills, including the

production and review of waste management documentation and

technical justifications.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience supporting hazard reduction and resilience programmes.

• Familiarity with the nuclear site management arrangements, safety case

constraints, and the requirements associated with working under the

• Knowledge of radioactive waste packaging, transport, and disposability

assessment processes.

• Experience identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, challenge

convention, and deliver value through innovative waste management

strategies.
