Youll work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure applications are accurately assessed, well documented and progressed within agreed service levels.Key Responsibilities for the Underwriter: Review and manually assess second charge mortgage applications in line with lending criteriaVerify customer documentation and request additional information where requiredAssess income, expenditure and affordability to support responsible lending decisionsReview applications carefully to identify any risks, inconsistencies or missing informationMaintain accurate and up-to-date case records throughout the application processLiaise with customers and internal stakeholders to progress applications efficientlyManage a caseload against agreed service levels, quality standards and KPIsDevelop your knowledge of specialist lending and underwriting through structured training and hands-on experienceExperience needed for the Underwriter role:At least 12 months experience assessing or processing loan or finance applicationsExperience reviewing income and expenditure information as part of a lending processPrevious experience within lending, mortgages, financial services or a related environmentStrong attention to detail and the ability to assess information accuratelyGood communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers and internal teamsA structured and organised approach to managing multiple casesA genuine interest in developing your knowledge of mortgage lending and underwritingExperience in motor finance, consumer lending or other lending environments will also be considered.Interested?
