Our people bring together technical excellence, innovation and collaboration to create lasting community benefit.We are looking for a passionate and proactive Traffic Engineer to join our growing Place and Movement team in London or Guildford.Working alongside transport planners, engineers, urban designers and multidisciplinary specialists, you'll contribute to the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects for both public and private sector clients. Our team supports projects from concept design through to construction, delivering sustainable transport, public realm and highway solutions that improve the way people move through and experience places.The OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for an individual with 3+ years' experience in transport, highways or traffic engineering who is looking to further develop their technical expertise while working on high-profile projects across London, the South East and beyond.You'll play a key role in the planning, design and delivery of schemes including public realm improvements, active travel infrastructure, highway enhancements, junction improvements, bus priority measures and transport-related developments.Supported by experienced technical leaders, you'll be encouraged to develop professionally, take ownership of project tasks and work towards professional accreditation where applicable.What You'll DoPrepare transport and highway engineering designs from concept through to detailed design stagesProduce technical drawings, reports and supporting documentation in accordance with UK standards and industry guidanceUndertake transport, traffic and infrastructure assessments to inform project developmentContribute to the design of:Public realm schemesActive travel infrastructureBus infrastructure improvementsHighway and junction improvementsSection 278 worksSafety schemes and 20mph zonesParking and streetscape projectsCoordinate design activities with other disciplines including structures, street lighting, landscape and utilitiesSupport site inspections, surveys and construction monitoring activitiesLiaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders throughout project deliveryEnsure projects are delivered to agreed quality standards, budgets and timescalesContribute to proposals, business development activities and continuous improvement initiativesWhat You'll BringDegree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related disciplineMinimum 3 years' experience in transport, traffic or highways designStrong technical understanding of urban realm, highway and traffic engineering principlesExperience delivering designs in accordance with UK design standards and codes of practiceProficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applicationsKnowledge of highway construction methods, materials and specificationsAbility to prepare technical reports and communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesCollaborative approach with excellent stakeholder engagement skillsCommitment to professional development and continuous learningDesirable ExperienceExperience using Civil 3D and/or OpenRoadsPostgraduate qualification in a transport-related disciplineSite supervision or construction monitoring experienceExperience preparing Bills of QuantitiesExposure to project or commercial management activitiesWorking knowledge of TfL standards and/or highway schemes across London and the South EastWhy GHD?At GHD, you will join a global network of over 11,000 professionals working together to create sustainable solutions for our communities.We offer:Hybrid working flexibility (3 days per week in the office)Career development and professional accreditation supportAccess to industry-leading technical specialists and mentorsOpportunities to work on complex, multidisciplinary projectsA collaborative and inclusive culture where your ideas are valuedCompetitive salary and benefits packageOur Commitment to YouCommitment is a powerful word that defines how we do business, how we serve our clients and how we support one another.We will help you develop your skills, encourage your curiosity and provide opportunities to collaborate with talented professionals across our global business.
