As we continue to evolve our engineering practices and modernise our product ecosystem, you will play a key role in designing, building, and delivering scalable, high‑quality software used by educators and schools around the world. You will be working within an agile, collaborative environment that values transparency, continuous learning, and technical excellence. Our teams include Product Managers, Scrum Masters, QA Engineers, and fellow Software Engineers, all working together to build reliable, secure, and impactful solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver high‑quality, scalable software using modern front‑end and back‑end frameworks Lead by example in applying engineering best practices Actively participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement Conduct and guide high‑quality code reviews, including complex changes Take ownership of deploying your code to all environments and releasing it to customers Collaborate with QA Engineers to define and guide testing strategies (unit, integration, functional) Monitor and proactively resolve system errors, improving observability and reliability Mentor engineers across the team and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives Ensure secure coding practices and respond to security‑related issues Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders What will you need to succeed?Essential SkillsProficiency in at least two of the following: JavaScript, Java, PHP, C#, or other .NET languagesStrong understanding of design patterns and hexagonal architectureHands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and using API documentation toolsSolid knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databasesExcellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical conceptsProven experience mentoring or guiding other engineersDesirable SkillsExperience working with microservices, Docker, and KubernetesFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and delivery practicesExposure to feature toggling, A/B testing, and release strategiesUnderstanding of security best practices and vulnerability identificationExperience contributing to architectural design and system-level thinkingWhat do you get in return? 25 days annual leave rising to 305% pension after probationState of the art officesAccess to a range of benefits via My Benefits WorldFree eye care coverLife AssuranceCycle to Work SchemeEAP (Employee assistance programme)Quarterly Tes SocialsAccess to an extensive Learning and Development menuWho are Tes?Tes is a global Edtech leader, on a mission to empower schools and educators to deliver impactful, inspiring learning experiences worldwide.
