We are looking for an experienced Compliance Engineer to join our underwater robotics business in Fareham.The role will be tasked with the following:To ensure compliance of Saab Seaeye’s designs and products to applicable standards and regulations.To work with minimal supervision on your own and/or within project teams, directing and managing others within the Compliance domain, co-ordinate compliance activities between the Engineering Department, other areas of the business and external organisations.Key Responsibilities:Control and maintain compliance of the company’s products to applicable national and international regulatory standards including EU Directives (CE), UL and FCC, and industry standards and guidelines including DNV, Norsok, IMCA and Lloyds RegisterCreate and maintain technical files and declarations that satisfy the requirements of the above standards and directivesMonitor and report on new and updated regulations and standards and their impacts on the company’s productsLiaise directly with internal development and production teams and external test laboratories and notified bodies to plan, co-ordinate and execute test accreditation activitiesAnalyse internal and external test results and reports, and use the findings to generate updated compliance verification and test plans and provide guidance to design engineering teams to help them to deliver compliant product solutionsReport on and present product compliance status to internal stakeholders and auditorsCreate technical compliance assessments in response to end user contractual requirementsContribute to design review and the release of new products and product upgrades to ensure that all new products are developed in a manner that is suitable for standards accreditationTake part in the engineering change process to ensure ongoing product complianceContribute to the continual development and improvement of the department’s processes and procedures and the sharing of knowledge and best practice as requiredNational and (occasional) international travel in support of the company’s objectivesConduct activities in a professional mannerContinually improve personal skills through training and awarenessTo undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by their Supervisor or Manager from time to timeQualifications and Skills: Essential Bachelor’s degree, graduate certificate or Diploma in in Electrical / Electronic EngineeringWorking knowledge EN 61010 and EN 60204 LVD safety standardsWorking knowledge of EMC standards and directives for CE / FCCWorking knowledge of Environmental testing associated with requirements under CE LVD safety standardsUnderstanding of mechanical principles associated with manufactured components / assembliesWorking knowledge of electronic systems / assemblies in relation to component recognition, PCB’s, WiringSelf-starter able to prioritise workload in relation to set priorities in relation to project aspects, and to deliver assigned standard workAble to work as an individual, and as part of a team delivering with equal performancePersonable and approachableConfident to interact with 3rd party service providers representing the businessConfident to interact with all levels of staff within the business including senior managers & directorsDesirableIn depth knowledge of PCB layout and manufacturing systemsUnderstanding of creepage ‘n’ clearance requirements in relation to Pollution degree levelsIn depth knowledge of reviewing designs to determine critical componentsIn depth knowledge of insulation barrier requirements within an electrical designIn depth knowledge of EMC principles and requirement of the testing for immunity & emissions levels to IEC 61000 standardsExposure to working with marine products under EN 60945 (Metallic hulled ships)Working knowledge / in depth knowledge of DNV Rules as applied to Metallic hulled ships and associated on board equipmentWorking knowledge of other maritime organisational rules / directives / standards e.g. Norsok, IMCA and Lloyds RegisterIn depth knowledge of mechanical principles / design / manufactureBy submitting an application to Saab UK you consent to undertaking workforce screening activities that may include but are not limited to: Baseline Personnel Security checks, National Security Vetting, reference checks, verification of working rights and in all circumstances preferred candidates will be placed through a security interview.SummaryLocation: Fareham Hampshire - Saab Seaeye, Trilogy 1, Concorde Way, SegensworthType: Full time
