We’re looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join a major enterprise technology and AI transformation programme, working through a leading Managed Service Provider.
This is an initial 3‑month contract with likely extensions, offering £750–£800 per day Inside IR35 and requiring 2 days per week on-site in Manchester or Leeds.
You’ll be working within a complex, enterprise-scale environment, building scalable backend services and integration platforms that support AI solutions, enterprise systems and business process automation.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Designing and building scalable backend services, primarily using Python
- Developing and integrating secure REST APIs across enterprise applications and AI services
- Working with Java and Node.js across the wider technology environment
- Building cloud-native services and solutions within GCP
- Developing microservices to support orchestration, integration and workflow automation
- Building event-driven solutions using Kafka / PubSub
- Supporting AI and AI Agent integration across enterprise platforms
- Building secure, resilient and production-ready services within a complex enterprise environment
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Strong commercial Python backend engineering experience
- Strong GCP / Google Cloud Platform experience
- Experience with Java and Node.js
- Strong REST API and microservices experienceExperience with Kafka, PubSub or event-driven architectures
- Experience delivering solutions within large-scale enterprise environments
- Experience working with AI, Generative AI or AI Agent solutions
- Exposure to Kubernetes, containerisation, CI/CD and enterprise authentication would be beneficial
