Job Description
Central London | Hybrid Working | Up to £40,000 + 10% Bonus
We’re currently working with an award-winning structural and civil engineering consultancy based in Central London that is looking to appoint a confident and motivated Project Structural Technician to join its growing Revit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Technician with around 3–6 years’ experience to join a specialist consultancy where you can have a genuine impact on projects and the wider business, rather than becoming another cog in a large organisation.
The consultancy has a particularly strong reputation for retrofit, refurbishment and complex cut-and-carve projects, working on technically challenging schemes involving existing buildings and structural alterations. They do undertake some new-build work, but retrofit and refurbishment experience is essential for this position.
You’ll work closely with structural engineers, architects and the wider project team, taking responsibility for producing high-quality structural drawings and BIM models across a range of interesting projects.
The Role
As a Project Structural Technician, you will take ownership of your technical workload and play an important role within the BIM team.
Responsibilities will include:
Producing detailed structural drawings and BIM models using Revit
Working across predominantly retrofit, refurbishment and cut-and-carve projects
Developing structural information from concept through to construction
Coordinating models and drawings with structural engineers, architects and other consultants
Taking responsibility for the technical quality and accuracy of your work
Managing your own workload and delivering information to project deadlines
Developing your understanding of construction and structural detailing
Contributing to the continued improvement of BIM, drawing and modelling standards
Supporting the wider technical team and contributing to a collaborative project environment
This is a role where you will be given ownership and responsibility, with the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and progress your career within a growing specialist consultancy.
About You
We’re looking for a Structural Technician who is confident using Revit and, importantly, has genuine experience working on existing buildings, retrofit and refurbishment projects.
You should ideally have:
Around 3–6 years’ experience within a structural engineering consultancy
Strong Revit skills – this is essential
Previous experience working on retrofit and refurbishment projects
Experience with cut-and-carve / structural alteration projects would be highly advantageous
A good understanding of structural construction and detailing
The ability to work independently and manage your own technical workload
Good communication and coordination skills
Confidence liaising with engineers, architects and other consultants
A proactive approach and the desire to make an impact within a smaller, growing business
BTEC Level 3, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction or a related discipline
A portfolio demonstrating your previous technical work will be required as part of the recruitment process.
The Company
You’ll be joining a relatively small and highly sociable consultancy of around 20 people, with a dedicated BIM team and a collaborative working environment.
The business offers something quite different from the larger engineering consultancies. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with senior members of the team, get involved in interesting and technically challenging projects, and see the impact of your work directly.
The company has a young, friendly and sociable culture, with a strong team dynamic and a modern Central London office close to Liverpool Street.
What’s on Offer
Salary up to £40,000, depending on experience
10% annual bonus, paid in two instalments
Hybrid working – 3 days in the office / 2 days from home
Flexible working hours – including the ability to start and finish later
Modern Central London office
Strong project exposure across retrofit and refurbishment
Opportunity to take ownership of projects and make a genuine impact
Supportive and sociable working environment
Excellent opportunity for career development within a growing specialist consultancy
Interested
If you’re a Structural Technician with strong Revit experience and a background in retrofit, refurbishment or cut-and-carve projects, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career.
