Job Description

The GPMO Program Manager provides leadership across the full lifecycle of IT and Product initiatives, guiding teams from robust program planning through to effective execution. The role ensures programs are delivered on schedule, at high quality, and in alignment with established business and technical objectives. In close partnership with Product Management and IT, the Program Manager serves as a key cross‑functional leader, aligning stakeholders, driving decisions, and orchestrating the work required to bring offerings successfully to market. This role is measured on the consistent delivery of high‑quality, objective‑aligned outcomes. It demands disciplined, proactive communication, structured planning, and strong problem‑solving capabilities. The ideal candidate brings analytical strength to anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend effective solutions, paired with a resilient, “can‑do” mindset suited to fast‑paced, evolving environments with distributed teams. We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation. Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the London or Sleaford office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates, optimizes, and drives structured schedules and milestone program plans across product releases, product launch teams and programs
  • Sets and meets deadlines with quality deliverables, effectively adapting and modifying plans based on changing data or conditions
  • Holds program team members accountable for their commitments, milestones, resources, and deliverables
  • Anticipates, identifies, documents, and manages key program risks, proposing appropriate mitigation and contingency plans and communicates in a timely manner to stakeholders and senior management
  • Identifies program dependencies and tracks and reports on their progress
  • Proposes workable solutions to problems by analysing business and technical trade‑offs among alternatives, and uses objective judgment and influence to formulate and drive consensus on recommendations
  • Frames communication and discussions for the intended audience, with appropriate context and line of sight
  • Ensures that the appropriate documents exist and are broadly communicated to drive shared vision among the program teams
  • Creates clearly understandable & actionable success criteria, objectives, and requirements and communicates them to the team
  • Conducts and effectively facilitates program team meetings to update status, and identify and resolve issues
  • Achieves quality results through strong team interaction, effective cross‑group collaboration and taking ownership of the success of the initiative

REQUIREMENTS

Personal and Business Skills: Strong planning acumen, able to prioritize effectively and operate as a proactive self‑starter focused on delivery outcomes. Exceptional communication skills, anticipating information needs, ensuring teams are well‑informed, and presenting confidently to executives and cross‑functional leaders. Analytical and strategic thinker, able to synthesize insights from disparate information and translate them into clear actions, decisions, and mitigation plans. Sound decision‑making ability, even in ambiguous situations; considers upstream/downstream impacts and balances long‑term and short‑term objectives. Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive clarity in complex environments. Strong leadership presence, capable of motivating teams, resolving conflict, and fostering a culture of accountability, trust, and continuous improvement. Resilient and adaptable, comfortable working in fast‑paced, evolving environments with distributed teams. Ability to coach and develop talent, helping team members grow their skills, confidence, and impact. Experience delivering complex IT programs and programmes across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, workplace technology, or enterprise applications. Experience managing technical dependencies, environments, release schedules, migrations, upgrades, and service transition activities. Ability to interpret technical concepts and translate them into clear business‑focused communications and decisions. Experience working with geographically dispersed technical teams and third‑party vendors to deliver technology solutions. Experience: 3+ years’ experience working in a software development or technology driven environment. 8+ years’ experience delivering complex IT programs and programmes within enterprise environments, with a proven track record of successful delivery across multiple workstreams and stakeholders. Experience working with Product and Engineering teams is highly beneficial. Ideally experience in utilising JIRA for Program Management. Educational Requirements: BA/BS in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related area, or equivalent program/program management experience PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly desired.
