This is an exciting time to join the business; they have plans to achieve 40% growth and significantly increase production.The successful Process Engineer will play an important role in developing its manufacturing operations, with excellent opportunities for career development and progression as the company continues to expand.The role of the Process EngineerThe Process Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, developing and improving manufacturing processes across CNC machining, welding, electropolishing and inspection.The Process Engineer will work closely with Production Managers, Team Leaders, Planning, Quality and Engineering, to identify ways to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and production output.This position will suit an analytical and improvement focused engineer who enjoys working across different manufacturing departments and managing projects from initial concept through to successful implementation.Responsibilities of the Process Engineer Review manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and outputWork across the machine shop, welding, electropolishing and inspection departments to introduce more effective ways of workingAnalyse production workflows to identify bottlenecks, delays, waste and recurring operational issuesCreate and standardise manufacturing processes, work instructions, process flow maps and operating proceduresManage continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementationSupport the introduction of new products, machinery, equipment, technology and automationUse Lean Manufacturing principles to improve operational performanceImprove CNC machining processes by reviewing cycle times, tooling, downtime, machine utilisation and throughputWork with welding teams to improve productivity and reduce defects and reworkDevelop electropolishing processes to improve cycle times, production flow, process control and qualityConduct root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative actionsWork with Planning and Operations to increase manufacturing capacity and improve resource utilisationCollect and analyse production and quality data to monitor performance and identify trendsProduce KPIs, dashboards, reports and improvement recommendationsPresent findings and recommendations to the management teamEnsure all process improvements meet health, safety, environmental and quality standardsSupport risk assessments, safe systems of work and accident or near-miss investigationsRequirements of the Process Engineer HNC, HND or degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Product Development or a related disciplinePrevious experience within a manufacturing or engineering environmentExperience supporting CNC machining, fabrication or welding operationsExperience analysing and improving manufacturing processesAnalytical and problem solving skillsExperience conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actionsExperience working within a quality management systemAbility to manage improvement projects from concept through to implementationConfidence working collaboratively across multiple departmentsCommunication and data analysis skillsDesirable qualifications of the Process Engineer Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualificationSix Sigma Green BeltIOSH Managing SafelyBenefits of the Process Engineer Salary of 45,000–50,000, depending on experienceMonday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays5% company pension contributionUp to 20 days’ company sick payBonus schemeProfit-share scheme due to be introducedExcellent career development and progression opportunitiesOpportunity to join a growing business that is investing heavily in its facilities, equipment and peopleAll applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
