Your work will comprise valuations of mineral assets and technical reviews of minerals projects. As a mining and metals focused valuations team member, you will play an integral part in growing and developing the team, business development activities and in valuing our clients' businesses and assets in the mining and metals industry.The industries of the broader natural resources and industrials team include: oil & gas, renewables, metals & mining, chemicals, vessels and defence. The natural resources and industrials valuation team performs engagements across all these sub-industries and sits within the wider valuation team covering a multitude of other industries and types of valuations.We are currently looking for mining and metals Assistant Managers, Manager and/or Senior Managers in our London office whose responsibilities will include:Working with the partners and other senior staff to develop our natural resources and mining & metals valuation practiceManaging and assisting in delivering multiple advisory valuation engagements to time and to budget for a wide range of mining and metals clientsPerforming reasoned and clearly presented financial, technical and market analysis including experience of reviewing/constructing valuation models to assess valueAssisting in technical reviews of mining and metal projects, technical due diligence processes, reviews of minerals projects valuations and associated engagementsCreating and developing quantitative models to assess value and financial performanceSelf-challenging the analysis performed and clearly articulating the rationale for the valuation conclusions reachedUnderstanding, performing and taking responsibility for the client acceptance and engagement risk mitigation processesParticipating in discussions with client senior and executive managementGaining a deep understanding of valuation theory and applying this in practice, as supported by relevant qualificationsLiaising with clients as and when appropriateCoaching and developing staff from both a technical and personal development perspectiveActively pursuing self-learning, on the job training and knowledge from other team membersContributing to broader group initiativesBuilding internal networks and developing external networksWorking effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contributionIf you are interested in applying, please also submit a cover letter about why you wish to apply along with your CV.Connect to your skills and professional experience Essential:Proven experience (Assistant Managers) working either (i) a technical role in a mining/ mineral exploration company or (ii) technical role in a mining advisory business or (iii) financial advisory in the mining sector (including private equity, investment banking or financial advisory/services). Greater experience will be required for the more senior roles.Exceptional analytical, oral and written communication skills with robust attention for detailKnowledge of basic financial and accounting concepts with the ability to analyse and value mineral assets and mining and metals businessesKnowledge of the fundamental technical aspects of mining operations, including ability to read and interpret mineral resource statements, mine plans, mineral processing flowsheets and financial modelsEnthusiasm for, and ideally previous exposure to valuations in the mining and metals sectorAbility to take complex analysis and to present and communicate it in a concise and clear mannerShow initiative to learn, ask questions and accomplish delegated tasks accuratelyClient focus, with ability to work quickly and establish effective working relationshipsLogical and methodical approach to problem solvingProject management and organisational skillsSelf-confidence/enthusiasm to be involved in business development activitiesWillingness to travel, as requiredDesirable:An MSc, MBA or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. finance, geology, mining or mineral process engineering);Pursuing or recently completed a professional accreditation (e.g. an ACA, MBA, CFA or similar)Exposure to or expertise in the ESG aspects of minerals projectsOther technical quilifications (geology. mining engineering, process engineering, reservoir engineering)Business proficiency in foreign languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese) also advantageous but not critical.Connect to your business - Strategy, Risk & Transactions AdvisoryIn an ever-evolving world, there are no certainties in business.
