Role Purpose

Help Shape a New Role and Make a Real Difference
Are you passionate about supporting people to remain independent, active, and connected within their communities?
We are excited to introduce a new Paraprofessional Occupational Therapy Worker post, created as part of the ongoing development of our Occupational Therapy Service within the Eildon Locality. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us at the start of an innovative role and contribute to the future of Occupational Therapy support across the Scottish Borders.
As one of the first people in this new position, you will play a key role in helping individuals achieve what matters most to them, supporting independence, wellbeing, and participation in everyday life. You will work directly with people in their homes and communities, helping to deliver practical interventions and solutions that enhance quality of life and promote positive outcomes.
Working under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Service Manager, you will support the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the Eildon Locality. You will undertake delegated tasks and interventions, support equipment provision and adaptations, monitor progress, and work alongside colleagues, carers, and partner agencies to help people live as independently as possible.

This role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to build strong relationships with people across the community while contributing to a service that is committed to prevention, early intervention, and personalised support.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who:
Is passionate about promoting independence and improving lives.
Enjoys working directly with people and finding practical solutions.
Can communicate effectively and build positive relationships.
Is organised, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Has experience in health, social care, rehabilitation, or community-based services.
Shares our commitment to person-centred, strengths-based practice.
Why Join Us?
Be part of an exciting new development within the Occupational Therapy Service.
Help shape a newly established role and influence how it develops.
Work within a supportive and experienced team.
Access learning and development opportunities.
Make a meaningful difference to people and communities across the Eildon Locality.
Enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same.

Essential

National Certificate (NC), Higher National Certificate (HNC), or equivalent qualification in Health and Social Care, Allied Health Professions Support, Rehabilitation, or a related subject.

Evidence of literacy, numeracy, and IT skills sufficient to maintain records and communicate effectively.

Ability to undertake relevant mandatory and role-specific training.

* If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
