Job Description

Project Overview:

Join us for an extraordinary opportunity

Be part of a major aviation project in the Greater London area, that will redefine the future of air travel and delivery excellence. We're building a dynamic team to plan and deliver complex, high-impact work, at the heart of one of the region's most innovative and fast-moving developments.

If you're motivated, hands-on, and thrive in the energy of large-scale infrastructure and aviation projects, this is your opportunity to thrive and make a real difference. Join a collaborative, fast-paced environment, where ambition, collaboration, and momentum drive success - and play a pivotal role in delivering transformation projects that will shape the future of aviation.

The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Deliver design management on projects, ensuring environmental risks and requirements are effectively managed across archaeology, landscape, ecology, water, soil, materials, waste and resources.
  • • Develop project scope that meets business needs and supports the business case.
  • • Prepare design briefs for external consultants and manage design contracts through the design process.
  • • Develop safe, cost-effective design solutions that meet environmental requirements and align with GAL Engineering Standards or agreed concessions.
  • Define asset information requirements for design and construction contracts.
  • Develop sustainable design solutions that reduce construction carbon through energy efficiency, material selection, waste reduction and transport optimisation.
  • Coordinate design changes during construction and handover.
  • Assess environmental impacts on programme, cost and efficiencies.
  • Support Principal Designer duties with the CDM Advisor.
  • Support contractor and consultant technical evaluations.
  • Manage site environmental constraints and quality requirements.
  • Review as-built information for commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure legal, statutory and standards compliance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in civil, environmental engineering or environmental management.
  • Chartered membership of an engineering or environmental institution desirable.
  • UK design/design management experience on environmental projects.
  • Experience managing concurrent design projects desirable.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• UK environmental legislation, consents and regulator engagement.

• Project close-out and handover management.

• Construction health, safety and environmental awareness.

• Practical problem-solving skills.

• Construction techniques and constructability.

• Quality management monitoring.

• MS Office and Project proficiency.

• NEC contracts, PMIs and claims experience desirable.
