Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers championship-winning programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, GT racing and a variety of global customer racing activities.

As our Engine Programmes continue to expand, we are looking to recruit a skilled and detail-focused Engine Builder to join our specialist Engine Department at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This role plays a key part in the assembly, inspection, preparation and maintenance of high-performance competition engines. Working to extremely tight tolerances and exacting standards, you will help deliver the performance, reliability and durability required to compete at the very highest level of motorsport.

This opportunity would suit an experienced technician or dealership mechanic looking to specialise in high-performance engine building and take the next step into a dedicated, precision-focused motorsport environment.

The role responsibilities include:

  • Engine Assembly: Assemble high-performance engines to precise specifications using manufacturer and in-house build procedures.

  • Inspection & Measurement: Carry out detailed inspections, measurements and clearance checks using specialist tools and equipment.

  • Engine Rebuild & Preparation: Strip, rebuild and prepare engines for dyno testing, competition events and customer delivery.

  • Technical Support: Work closely with Engine Engineers and the Dyno Team to provide feedback on technical issues and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Documentation & Traceability: Maintain accurate build records, inspection reports and component tracking systems.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, reliability and attention to detail.

  • Continuous Improvement: Support ongoing development activities and contribute to improving engine build processes and procedures.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Essential Criteria & Skills:

  • Technical Understanding & Education: Educated to Level 3 Light Motor Vehicle or Race Technician standard with an understanding of engine mechanics and associated systems.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical knowledge with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and build specifications.

  • Organisation & Time Management: Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively to demanding deadlines.

  • Problem Solving: Practical and proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to Quality: A strong focus on accuracy, consistency and delivering work to the highest possible standards.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience building, rebuilding or maintaining high-performance engines within motorsport, performance automotive, marine, aerospace or similar precision engineering environments.

  • Qualified automotive technicians, dealership mechanics or engine builders looking to specialise in motorsport engine assembly are encouraged to apply.
