Job Description

Job Description

Document Controller

An opportunity for an experienced Document Controller to join a busy civil engineering contractor, supporting the successful delivery of projects from start to finish.

Working closely with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in ensuring project information is accurately controlled, maintained and distributed throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a varied role with involvement across document control, QA support and the management of handover and O&M documentation.

The Role

As Document Controller, you’ll be responsible for maintaining effective document management processes across one or more civil engineering projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing project documentation within the Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Ensuring documents are correctly filed, named, issued and accessible in line with project procedures.
  • Maintaining document registers and controlling revisions, approvals and distribution.
  • Monitoring document submissions and following up outstanding information.
  • Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure document control procedures are followed.
  • Carrying out regular document audits alongside the Senior Document Controller.
  • Supporting site teams with the preparation and submission of QA documentation.
  • Collating and tracking QA inspection records, reports and associated documentation.
  • Ensuring project records are maintained accurately and in accordance with project and industry requirements.
  • Collecting, reviewing and compiling O&M manuals and handover information from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Tracking outstanding O&M information and following up with the relevant parties.
  • Supporting the successful completion and handover of projects to the client.
About You

You’ll ideally have previous experience working in Document Control, preferably within civil engineering, construction or another project-based environment.

You may have experience with:

  • Document management systems or Common Data Environments, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar platforms.
  • Managing document revisions, approvals, registers and distribution.
  • Working with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and wider project stakeholders.
  • Supporting QA, handover or O&M documentation processes.
  • Managing multiple priorities while working to deadlines.
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You’ll be organised, proactive and confident communicating with a range of stakeholders. You’ll also be comfortable working independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider project team.

An understanding of civil engineering project documentation, QA requirements and handover processes would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a Document Controller looking to develop their career within a civil engineering contractor, taking on a varied role and gaining exposure across the full project documentation lifecycle.

If you’re organised, detail-focused and looking for your next opportunity within a busy civil engineering environment, this could be the role for you.
