The Role:The Digital Marketing Degree Apprentice will bring creativity and flair to support communications and engagement activity across the Department of Research and Innovation and Innovation Connect, helping to create, coordinate and share content for internal and external audiences.
They will enjoy working with different communities across the University and build relationships to support your work.
This is a Digital Marketing (Degree Apprenticeship) role linked to the University of Portsmouth’s Digital Marketing BA (Hons). The role will support digital content, engagement activity, events, external communications and audience insight, with activity split broadly across external facing projects within the Department of Research and Innovation. The postholder will be given 6 hours per week protected study time to support lectures and self-study.
The successful candidate will be enrolled on the degree programme and will work towards the qualification alongside their role in the team, with 6 hours of protected study time each week (during working hours) for learning, coursework and off-the-job training.
To take up the post, you must meet the entry requirements for the degree, as set out in the person specification. Please read these carefully before applying, as your place on the programme depends on meeting them.

Apprenticeships combine practical on the job training with a course of study in your chosen vocation; enabling you to reach your full potential via work based experience and recognised qualifications. These opportunities are offered by the University to those with limited previous education/training or work experience, helping you to develop the required skills in your chosen field of work.
All apprentices will be fully supported by departmental managers and mentors who will help you to become work-ready within a welcoming and high performing team environment.
As a University of Portsmouth apprentice, you will:
- Complete a Digital Marketing BA (Hons) with University of Portsmouth
- Be supported by a specialist training provider
- Gain job specific skills and work alongside experienced staff
- Be supported to complete training and course work within agreed deadlines
This role will be on site, full-time (with time given for study). We are open to some flexibility for the right candidate.
Interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 01 October 2026.
This appointment is a fixed-term contract for 4 years.
