Job Description
Buyer | East Lancashire | £40-45k | 6 month FTC
An exciting opportunity has arisen within a leading manufacturer in the East Lancashire area. This is a 6 month fixed term contract.
Your role will be to administrate all aspects of material supply (raising of forecasts, purchase orders, expediting / deferrals, updating prices/MOQs/trigger levels, communicating supply issues internally) Work with suppliers regarding consignment stock control. Identify and implement improvements to purchasing and inventory control.
Duties:
- Optimise purchase prices and stock levels to support cost-effective procurement.
- Ensure materials are available on time to meet operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records and effective inventory control.
- Proactively identify and implement process and business improvements using Lean supply chain techniques.
- Actively contribute to Lean projects and initiatives, including 5S standards and Kanban supply chains.
- Complete risk assessments, audits and inspections on time, driving improvements in health, safety and efficiency.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workplace while adhering to all Quality and Health & Safety systems.
- Demonstrate flexibility and support wider business functions, contributing to continuous business improvement.
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent knowledge of stock control systems and Lean supply chain techniques.
- Previous experience within an Electronics or Engineering environment, with good understanding of ISO9001 Quality and ISO45001 Health & Safety procedures.
- Strong leadership, people development and interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement and manage change effectively.
- Ability to develop and deliver strategies focused on continuous improvement and enhanced business performance, with strong customer and quality awareness and good IT skills across Outlook, Excel and Word.

- Salary £40,000-£45,000
