40000 - 50000 per annumLeeds, EnglandPermanentAs an experienced bridge design engineer, you will provide valuable design input to our clif ents bridges and multidisciplinary civil-structural engineering projects. You will be supported throughout by senior members of our bridge teams in Ireland and the UK.Duties and responsibilitiesWork with existing and new bridge and civil structures across a range of materials and forms, superstructure, substructure, foundation and articulation elementsParticipate in early project stages, including scoping, specifying and interpreting surveys, inspection and investigative works, optioneering and scheme designUndertake preliminary and detailed design work, including structural analytical modelling, calculations etc.Assisting in the production of drawings Prepare documents, including technical reports, specifications and contract documentsSupporting the delivery of projects within agreed timeframesUndertake independent design checking and provide construction stage technical supportInterface with clients from local and national authorities, consultants and design-and-build contractors amongst othersEssential requirementsA minimum of three years' post-qualification experience in bridge detailed designWorking towards chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or equivalentGood knowledge of structural analysis software including finite element analysisAbility to undertake bridge structure analytical modelling, including construction stage and finite element analysisGood technical knowledge of bridge designMeticulous in the detailing of bridge structuresDesirableGood knowledge of and experience in the use of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and other standards and legislation in the field of bridge/structural designWorking knowledge of Eurocodes in the field of bridge designExperience of working independently on detailed bridge design
