About the Role

Join smartR.ai as an AI Algorithm Engineer to deploy and extend the SCOTi platform at a large manufacturer, building production-scale algorithms for causal discovery, agentic RAG, document intelligence and legacy system connectors. The role offers hands-on ownership and mentorship while applying ML/NLP and data-engineering methods to connect and reason over engineering knowledge.

Job DescriptionRole

You will deploy and extend the SCOTi platform at a major manufacturing customer, building AI that reads, connects and reasons over engineering knowledge (drawings, specifications, reports, telematics and warranty data). Your algorithms will run in production at scale and you will work alongside the developers who built SCOTi with real ownership and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop causal-discovery algorithms to find root causes in complex manufacturing data
• Design and implement agentic RAG (retrieval, ranking and context selection) methods to support enterprise question-answering
• Build document-intelligence pipelines to extract and cross-check information from drawings, specifications and unstructured documents (Discrepancy AI)
• Implement robust connectors and integrations to pull data from legacy enterprise systems
• Deploy and maintain models and pipelines in production environments; collaborate with the SCOTi engineering team

RequirementsRequired

• Strong mathematical foundations (information theory, optimisation, statistics)
• Knowledge of vibe coding
• Creative problem-solving and collaborative communication skills
• Right to work in the UK

Desirable / Knowledge (not required)

• Experience or knowledge of NLP, LLMs, RAG, information retrieval or knowledge graphs
• Data engineering experience including APIs, SQL and working with messy real-world data
• Interest in manufacturing or industrial applications

• Suitable for entry-level candidates and those with 1–2 years of relevant experience
